Spring Flowers and Watercolour Painting - Saturday 12th April
Create your own Spring flower bouquet with Caroline Bates and capture it in watercolour with Imogen Partridge
Sunday 12th April 10am-3pm (arrive from 9:45 for a 10am start)
Somersbury Barn, Surrey.
We are excited to host a wonderful, tranquil, creative day celebrating the beauty of British seasonal flowers.
Join florist Caroline and watercolour artist Imogen for a transformative day of workshops, creativity and delicious food in the beautiful Glasshouse at Somersbury Barn.
Spend the morning creating your own beautiful flower bouquet with Caroline’s expert guidance. We will break for a delicious lunch from Lucinda at Somersbury Barn. The afternoon will be spent with Imogen talking you through the process of capturing those flowers in watercolour. This tranquil, creative and transformative day will leave you with a wonderfully clear mind, with your painting and flower arrangement to take home.
The workshops are aimed at complete beginners, but all levels of experience would be very welcome.
We really hope to inspire more people to discover and enjoy in the creative processes that bring us joy every day.
The Floristry Workshop
Working with flowers allows you to step outside the day to day and feel closer to what’s going on around you in nature. You will be using seasonal flowers, foliage and textures, creating a gorgeous design with the very best of what’s growing around you.
You will be creating your own hand-tied bouquet using locally grown flowers. Caroline will help you to make a natural style bouquet, advising you on how to achieve an abundant spring feel while still retaining lightness to the arrangement. She will also give advice on growing, sourcing and conditioning your flowers and we will look at using movement and colour in your design. This is a chance for you to work with a array of beautiful flowers and to really focus your mind, away from the stresses of day to day life, all whilst creating a design to be proud of.
You will be given a vase to take home to display your bouquet in.
The Watercolour Workshop
Watercolour is an incredibly mindful creative outlet, allowing for lots of experimental play, taking your focus to the details in front of you and away from the fast pace of everyday life. Imogen is passionate about sharing her love of painting and the way she works with watercolour, as well as the benefits of the process.
Learn some basics of watercolour, mixing colours and practicing techniques to capture your bouquet from the morning session. Inviting you to look closer, noticing every details, celebrating the seasonal, local flowers.
All materials will be provided for use within the workshop and you will also come away with your own watercolour guide that Imogen has put together to allow you to continue your practice at home.
